Dana's
career has been long and varied. She designed and created paper engineering
for dozens of pop-ups used in greeting cards, children's books, and
as a special feature in address books, diaries, and stationery. These
paper inventions have been recognized for their creativity by being
featured in book, magazine and newspaper articles as well as in a University
course on pop-ups.
An
illustrator for well over a dozen children's books, Dana has given the
characters she created for some of her books, a new life in various
products.
The "Little Teddy" character from "Midnight
Teddies" became the inspiration for a whole line of ice
cream wafers and cones for Marcantonio Foods.
Stanley, the kitten featured in "To
Mum with Love" and "I Love You,Grandpa,"
can be seen on his own lunch box, a series of tin
boxes, and in charming badges featuring Stanley and his favourite
toy mouse.
Dana has
expanded her art into everyday life with designs for household items
ranging from aprons and kitchenware for Dodo Designs, to pottery and
tableware for J. Luber, Switzerland. One can cook the morning's egg
protected by apron and mitt; sit down to enjoy a mug of coffee with
breakfast while reading a book to amuse the children; then send them
off to school with a lunch box and on their lapels their favorite "Stanley"
character badge; all the while using products of Dana's design.
